Lovie G. Howell passed away peacefully on Monday, November 7, 2005 at the age of 98. Lovie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Oscar Jack Howell, Sr. and her son and daughter-in-law, Oscar Jack "O. J." Howell, Jr. and Virginia Howell. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald G. and Mary Anne Howell, granddaughters, Dona H. Todd and Melanie H. Ferguson, grandsons, Jack Howell and Ronnie Howell, seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Lovie was born in Ripley, Mississippi on February 22, 1907. She was the youngest of eleven children. Lovie married Oscar Jack Howell on Christmas day, 1929 in Birmingham, Alabama. She and Oscar moved to the Buckhead area of Atlanta in 1939 where she has lived in her Buckhead home since then. While in Birmingham, Lovie was an active member of the Eastern Star. She was a very involved and devoted member of Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church in Atlanta since 1939. She served frequently as President of her Sunday School Class, Aliae. During her tenure as President of her class, Aliae was the largest Sunday School Class in Georgia. She served on many church committees and organized many events for her beloved church. Lovie was the founding member and President of the Peachtree Heights Garden Club. Under her leadership, the Peachtree Heights Garden Club won numerous awards and recognitions. Lovie had an amazing love and zest for life. She was devoted to her Lord, her church, her family and her many friends throughout her life time. Her positive attitude was always an inspiration to her family and friends. Lovie enjoyed every minute of her 98 years, and lived each moment to the fullest. She will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known her. Her love will remain forever. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 10th, at two o'clock at Oglethorpe Hill Chapel with Reverend Charles Qualls officiating. Interment Crest Lawn Memorial Park. Mary Alice Hiter Williams, age 82, passed away Friday, November 4, 2005 at ParkWest Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. Born November 4, 1923 in Clarksville, Tennessee, the youngest child of Chester J. and Mamie Powers Hiter. She was a long-time member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Nashville, Tennessee, and was retired from Castner-Knott Co. in Nashville. She was preceded in death by: her parents, sisters, Lucile Hiter Mitchell and Elizabeth Hiter Williams; and brothers, James Hiter, Sr., Russell Hiter, Sr. and John Hiter, Sr. Survived by: her husband of 63 years, Wendell Lamar Williams; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Wanda Williams; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Robert Evridge, all of Knoxville; four granddaughters, Amy W. Leslie and husband, Winston of Kodiak Island, Alaska, Melissa Williams of Washington, D.C., Katherine and Rebecca Evridge of Knoxville, Tennessee; and great grandchildren, Spencer, Skylar, Samuel and Zachary Leslie, all of Kodiak Island, Alaska; brother-in-law, Dennis Williams and wife, Wynette; sister-in-law, Carolyn Hood and husband, Kenneth, all of Snellville, Georgia; sister-in-law, Hazel Moon and husband, George of Monroe, Georgia and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeffrey Scott Coleman, age 37 of Lilburn, GA died November 7, 2005. He is survived by his parents, Jim and Jean Coleman of Grayson; sister, Jill Coleman of Watkinsville; grandmother, Mildred Witcher of Conyers and his dog, Abby. Mr. Coleman, a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, was a Master Plumber and was owner/operator of Coleman Plumbing Company. He was a very kind hearted person and was a loving son, brother, grandson and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Mr. Joseph Catlin, Sears, Roebuck & Company retired manager, died Saturday, November 5, at the age of 86. The memorial service will be at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 4882 LaVista Road in Tucker on Thursday, November 10 at 3:00 p.m. Mr. Catlin was born in Selina, KS, the youngest of 6 children. He served in the Air Force during WWII after getting his pilot's license in 1942. He was a charter member of the World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. After his service in WWII, he began his 38-year career with Sears in Kansas City as a Women's store manager. His career took him to Miami, FL and later to Tucker, GA as the Manager of the Fashion Center. Mr. Catlin worked in Tucker until his retirement from Sears in 1984. He was preceded in death by his son, Dr. Jack Catlin. He is survived by wife, Joan Rawlins Catlin; son, Bobby & Kim Smith; grandchildren, Lacey and husband, Greg LeCroy, and Joe Smith of Tucker; sister, Mary Shook of Athens; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gary & Bernice Graham of Garland, TX, Buddy & Jerry Rawlins of Snellville, GA, Becky & Johnny Rawlins of Snellville, GA, Jewell Mathis of Snellville, GA, Margaret Catlin of Lilburn, GA; many nieces and nephews including Dr. Pamela Catlin of Lilburn, GA and Jane, Michael and Katie Wright of Athens, GA; and special friends, Ruth Barnes, Norm & Hazel Voight and their families.
