Mrs. Emily Pitts Gibson, age 82, of Hampton died Nov. 7, 2005 at Brightmoor Nursing Home. Mrs. Gibson was born Oct. 6, 1923 in Grantville, the daughter of Lillie and Sam Pitts. Mrs. Gibson moved from Charlotte, N.C. to Georgia in 1993. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hampton and a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Woodrow Gibson; son, Alex Gibson; sisters, Mary Martin and Maude Stinson.
Survivors are her children, Richard and Linda Gibson of Hampton, LaVerne House of Griffin, Nelson Gibson of Charlotte, N.C., Teresa and Everett Travis of Little River, S.C., Mary Ann and Steve DeLuca of Mathews, N.C. and Veronica Gibson of Charlotte; sisters, Hazel Kent from Hampton and Ruth Cranford from Griffin; brother, James Pitts from Paris, Texas; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Mrs. Gibson will be Friday, Nov. 11, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, N.C. with Richard Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends at Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
