When the Jonesboro Lady Cardinals take the floor at home tonight against county rival Forest Park, the game will feature two teams which could be moving in potentially opposite directions. Jonesboro, which is state ranked in most preseason high school basketball polls, brings in a 3-1 record into tonight's contest, while Forest Park comes into the contest looking for its first victory after falling to 0-3 after participating in the Mt. Zion Christmas Tournament. The game between county rivals highlights a busy night of basketball as Riverdale travels to Newton and Miller Grove comes to Mt. Zion. The Lady Cardinals began the season with three impressive victories, beating Cedar Shoals 69-32, Henry County 60-20 and Riverdale 62-33, before falling to Newnan 43-41. Forest Park's girls have struggled to get its offense on track losing 50-35 to Paideia, 52-30 to Newnan, and Henry County 55-8. Riverdale goes to Newton County looking for its second win of the season. The Lady Raiders, who are under the direction of first-year coach Sean Berry, beat Newnan in overtime, but lost before dropping its game to Jonesboro, The Lady Raiders face a Newton County team which is 2-1. After playing in its own holiday tournament, the Mt. Zion girls' team play back at home tonight against Miller Grove. In boys games, Forest Park comes into its contest against Jonesboro fresh off a 54-43 victory against Henry County Saturday in the Mt. Zion Tip-Off Classic. The Panthers built a double-digit lead in the first half and never looked back en route to its win. Jonesboro enters the game after beating Newnan Saturday in the Mt. Zion tournament. Earlier in the event, the Cardinals dropped a game to Riverdale. Riverdale travels to Newton County for its first game since playing in the holiday event at Mt. Zion. The Raiders face a 2-1 Newton team. Mt. Zion entertains Miller Grove.More like this story
