COLUMBUS - After the first two rounds of the AFLAC/Cougar Invitational Monday, the Clayton College & State University men's golf team is tied for 15th at the tournament at the Columbus Country Club. Clayton State shot rounds of 305 and 304 in the 18-team event, which features many of the top NCAA Division II golf programs, including the two-time NCAA Division II national champions USC Aiken - and the 2005 NCAA runner-up - Armstrong State. USC Aiken leads after the first two rounds, at 6-under par, with rounds of 276 and 284 on the par-71, 6,515-yard course. Armstrong Atlantic is in second with scores of 290 and 286 for a 6-over par score, followed by West Florida and Pfeiffer tied for third at 12-over par. Clayton State is tied for 15th, with Catawba and Peach Belt Conference foe Lander. The Lakers are eight strokes back from Barry (Fla.) in the 13th spot. For the Lakers, Ryan Clement leads the way, after shooting rounds of 75 and 74 and is tied for 37th at 7-over par. Matt Beall is tied for 46th, with two rounds of 75, followed by Steven Sanders tied for 58th, with rounds of 77 and 75.More like this story
