A Clayton County police officer who was killed in the line of duty will be buried on Saturday.
The funeral for Sgt. Michael Davis will be held at noon in Salem Bible Church at 5460 Hillandale Drive in Lithonia, said Clayton County Assistant Police Chief Jeff Turner. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Donald Trimble Mortuary at 1876 Second Avenue in Decatur.
Davis was killed around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday after his patrol car rear-ended a pickup truck on Tara Boulevard near Valley Hill Road and flipped several times. Turner said Davis, who was not using his emergency lights or siren, may have been responding to a search for a stolen car at another location.
Davis was the first Clayton County officer to be killed on the job in about 50 years. Flowers can be sent to Trimble Mortuary, call (404) 371-0772 for information.
