Martha Jane "Polly" Owen Harrison, of LaGrange, formerly of Jonesboro, passed away, Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005.
She was born March 25, 1921, to Hannah Rice and John Jefferson Owen, in Fulton, Kentucky. She graduated from Fulton High School, in Fulton, Kentucky in 1940.
She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge, Tenn., where she served as Children's Superintendent.
After moving to Jonesboro, Ga., she became an active member of the Jonesboro First United Methodist Church. Her church service included President of the United Methodist Women, wedding co-ordinator, choir director for the youth and children's choir as well as the president of her Sunday school class. She was a faithful servant of the Lord.
Mrs. Harrison was employed by the U.S. Gypson Corporation from 1974-1988 as personnel director.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister. Mrs. Harrison is survived by her husband, Hervey Evans "Breezy" Harrison of Vernon Woods Retirement Center in LaGrange, Ga.; Mrs. Joanna Selbie, her daughter; Mr. Ric Selbie, her son-in-law; two grandsons, John Selbie of Seattle, Wash., and David Selbie of LaGrange, Ga. and a devoted sister, Sara Owen Hayes of Oak Ridge, Tenn.
Funeral Services will be held, Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005 at 2:30 PM at Jonesboro First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Charles Robinson will officiate. Interment Sherwood Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 12-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jonesboro First United Methodist Church or the First United Mehodist Church of LaGrange, Ga.
