James Kenneth Simmons, age 82, of Ellenwood passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Annie Louise Simmons and daughter, Karen Lorrell Kelly.
He is survived by his sons, Steve Simmons of Jonesboro, Tony Simmons of Woodstock, daughter, Glenda S. Howard of Ft. Oglethorpe. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends for visitation today from 6-9 p.m. at Pope Dickson & Son, Jonesboro Chapel.
Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 9th at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

Sam Kirkland, 79, of Jonesboro passed away Sept. 6, 2005. He was a longtime resident of Clayton County, a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro and was retired from Norfolk Southern Railway.
Surviving are his wife Mary Louise Kirkland, son, Dr. Ken M. Kirkland of Dallas, Texas, daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Mike Beal of Jonesboro, grandchildren, Molly and Dalton Beal, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro with Dr. Charles Q. Carter and Dr. Dean Haun officiating. Interment will follow at Jonesboro City Cemetery. The family will receive friends today 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mary Anna "Becky" Dennis, age 97, of Jonesboro passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005 at a niece's residence in Rex, Ga.
Ms. Dennis was born on March 16, 1908 in Thomas County, Georgia to the late Triston B. & Arrie Bullock Dennis. She was retired from the Nabisco Corporation of Atlanta where she worked for over 40 years as a clerk. She was a member of Ochlocknee Methodist Church of Ochlocknee, Georgia.
Survivors are nieces, Mrs. Judy Nolan of Rex, Ga.; Mrs. Faye R. Rogers of Marietta, Ga. and Mrs. Flo Lewis of Maderia Beach, Fla.
A funeral service was held Tuesday at the Southside Chapel Funeral Home in Morrow, Ga. with the Rev. Bill Jackson officiating. Interment will be at the Ochlocknee Methodist Church Cemetery, Ochlocknee, GA today at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Chris Shoemaker officiating.
Betty S. Robinson
Betty Slate Robinson, age 78, of Stockbridge, Ga. died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005.
She was born Aug. 10, 1927, in Atlanta, Ga. Ms. Robinson was secretary to Mayors Hartsfield, and Ivan Allen Jr. and formerly employed with Alston and Bird Law Firm. She was a member of Stockbridge First United Methodist Church where she was very active in her Sunday school class and the Happy Hearts. But most important to her were her family and pets. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Ms. Robinson is survived by her children, Charles (Kay) Robinson, Rebecca (Robert) Stavely, Rhonda Robinson, Robert (Sherri) Robinson; grandchildren, Chuck (Erin) Robinson, Will Robinson, Katie (Matt) Dunn, Elizabeth and Christopher Stavely, Austin, Tiffany and Jenna Robinson; great grandchildren, Ashley and Nicholas Robinson, Tyler, Matthew, and Jarred Dunn.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with The Rev. Jay Hodges and The Rev. Charles Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends today, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
