The defense made the difference in a 22-0 victory for the Riverdale Middle School football team Tuesday night against Jonesboro. Deaunte Trigger scored his second touchdown of the game late in the fourth quarter, when he intercepted a pass and slashed his way 80 yards for the score. Earlier, Riverdale had added to its lead when Denard Lucas sprinted 30 yards for a score during a punt return. Trigger scored his first touchdown of the game early in the first quarter on a 47-yard run. Mundy's Mill 42, Forest Park 6: Michael Wells and Corterious Davis each scored two touchdowns to lead Mundy's Mill to the win. Wells rushed for 185 yards, while Davis added 176 yards. North Clayton 12, Lovejoy 8: Cameron Greg and Charles Anderson scored TDs as North Clayton edged Lovejoy. Babb 36, Sequoyah 6: The Bulldogs' defense was stellar, giving up just a touchdown on the games final play and limited Sequoyah to less than 70 yards of total offense in the win. Dionta Ross gave Babb a 8-0 lead after scoring on an 8-yard TD. Sylvester Loyal connected with Benard Agurs on a 40-yard pass for the next score. Sequoyah got its only score on a Lathonta Thorpe touchdown pass to Thomas Jackson. M.D. Roberts 14, Addison 0: After playing to a scoreless first half, M.D. Roberts finally got on the board with an 18-yard touchdown run by Cedric Hathaway. Hathaway scored his second TD on an 8-yard run in the fourth quarter. Volleyball The Jonesboro High School volleyball team defeated South Atlanta 25-0, 25-0 by forfeit, and Mt. Zion 25-11, 25-10 in action on Tuesday. Jonesboro improved its record to 14-0. Softball The Jonesboro High School softball team blanked Miller Grove, 24-0 in three innings. Heather Lowry struck out all nine batters she faced and had four RBIs. Shannon Harris and Donisha Harrison each had two RBIs in the win.More like this story
