The Riverdale Raiders stayed unbeaten Saturday night at Panthersville stadium with a big win over region 2AAAAA opponent Lithonia 42-12.
The excitement over the big win for the Raiders was dampened though when the game was called with 1:08 remaining in the 4th quarter due to confirmed reports of a shooting at the stadium some time in the 4th quarter. No details were available regarding the shooting, but police and rescue personal were on the scene immediately.
Riverdale dominated the Bulldogs with a solid ground attack led by Chad Morgan, Calvin Adkins and Kevin Colbert. The Raiders finished the night with 331 yards on the ground. Chad Morgan led the way with 140 yards rushing and one touchdown. Calvin Adkins also ran the ball well for Riverdale gaining 64 yards and scoring on a pair of touchdowns in the first half.
The Raiders two quarterbacks, junior Rod Mason and senior Tim Johnson were both successful throwing the ball and combined for 116 yards passing on night and one 11 yard TD pass to junior Rashaud Tukes from Johnson.
Defensively the Raiders played very well also led by linebacker Vandarel Shackleford and defensive back Emmit Merchant. Merchant intercepted two Lithonia passes and returned the second one 22 yards for a touchdown.
Riverdale runs it's record to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in region 2AAAAA.
The Raiders return to action next Saturday night at Tara stadium when they will face the Newton Rams.

Morrow returns to action next week in another region conte4st against Douglass High School.
