Norene Ogburn Kocher
Norene Ogburn Kocher, 70, of Locust Grove, died Dec. 19, at the Henry Medical Center. Mrs. Kocher was born in Columbus, Ga., to the late John Ora and Edna Nova Foster Ogburn. She was a member of the Lighthouse Community Church in Stockbridge. She was referred to as "Nanny" by her loving grandchildren and the children she raised. She also enjoyed babysitting and spending time with her dog, "Pepper." Survivors include her loving husband, Garth K. Kocher, of Locust Grove; children and spouses, Ned and Frankey Kocher, of McDonough, Patty Babcock and Marty Fricks, of Cartersville, and Cristine Noel, of Locust Grove; seven grandchildren, Matthew Kocher, Noah (Ashley) Kocher, Jeremy Babcock, Ryan Babcock, Randi (Jason) Jean, Shannen Kocher, and Lacey Noel; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Hilda Dawson, Carol Hawkins, Mable Miller, Rev. Hughvon King, and Charles King; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m., from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Dr. Tim Dowdy will officiate. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit the family Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
