Billy Joe Howard

Mr. Billy Joe Howard, age 76, of Stockbridge, passed away Nov. 7, 2007 at the Henry Medical Center. He was born in Hot Springs, Ark., to the late William Calvin Howard and Emma Parr Striker. He was preceded in death by brothers, Larry Howard and Melroy Norman. He served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean War; he received a B.S. Degree from Arizona State University in 1958; was a real estate broker who enjoyed traveling, family genealogy, and was an avid Sun Devil's fan.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Pat Howard, of Stockbridge; children, Don Howard, of Stockbridge, Doug Howard, of Blairsville, Teri and Kenny Dell, of Blue Ridge, Kim Walker, of Locust Grove, Joey and Tommy Miller, of Locust Grove; eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren; sister, Rachel Lee Cummings, of Seattle, Wash.; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 10, at 11a.m., from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. There will be a private family entombment in Dalton, Ga., at 3 p.m. Friends may visit the family Friday evening from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Ethel Jenkins Thompson

Ethel Jenkins Thompson, 91, a life long resident of Clayton County, passed away on Oct. 23, 2007.

She is survived by daugther, Annette and John W. (Billy) Brooks; grandchildren, Claudia Brooks and Bill Rietdyke, John Curtis (Curt) and Beverly Brooks; great-grandchildren, Robert and Kim Davis, T.J. Brooks, Jason and Holly Brooks, Amanda Brooks; great-great-grandchildren, Catelyn, Savannah and Elijah Davis, Korbin Brooks, Logan Brooks; sisters-in-law, Lucy Jenkins, Voncille Jenkins and Catherine Thompson; brother-in-law, Cecil Jones, and nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held for the family at the Forest Park Cemetery at noon on Nov. 17.

Georgene Crow Dunn

Georgene Crow Dunn, affectionately known as Maw Maw, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007 in Stockbridge, at age 82. She was a resident of New Orleans for over fifty years, and was residing in Stockbridge. She was the beloved wife (42 years) of the late, Durward B. Dunn, Jr., and loving mother of the late, George Crow Dunn.

She is survived by Durward B. Dunn, III (Cathy), of New Orleans, La.; Gene Dunn Williams (Willis), of Metairie, La.; Susan Dunn Grant (Allen), of Stockbridge; Paul R. M. Dunn (Janine), of Metairie, La.; and John L. Hanagriff (Karen), of Mandevill, La.; twelve grandchildren; and a niece, Julie Barwick Smitherman. She was predeceased by her parents, George W. and Arrah T. Crow, of Tchula, Miss. A graduate of Mississippi State College for Women, she was a teacher and basketball coach in Mississippi. Later, while raising five children, she and her husband founded Durward Dunn Inc., a marine construction firm in New Orleans. She was a charter member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, and served on the Advisory Board for Montreat Presbyterian Conference Center and the Board of Directors of the Mississippi State University Development Foundation.

She attended Morrow Presbyterian Church of Morrow, Ga. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the services at Southern Funeral Home, of Lexington, Miss., on Monday, Nov. 12, at 1p.m. Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
