Three shot in head, one dead, one critical

Clayton County Police found a fully-clothed man shot in the head and dead on his apartment living room floor, Thanksgiving morning.

Officers, responding to a 911 call at about 4:40 a.m., Thursday, found the front door ajar, but not forced open, at a Hidden Creek apartment, 6595 Mt. Zion Blvd., in Morrow. Officers found 19-year-old Darrious Adams on the floor, and heard screaming from the back of the apartment, Capt. Greg Dickens said.

A 20-year-old woman, found in the bedroom, had been also shot in the head. She was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, and remained in critical condition, Friday evening.

A third person, 17-year-old Jasmine Brown, was reportedly in the apartment at the time of the shooting, and "suffered a superficial head wound," Dickens said. Brown called her mother, from the scene, said, "Hey mom, I've been shot," according to police, and the teen's mother called 911.

Brown was driven to Southern Regional Medical Center, by her mother, and was later released.

Police do not believe the incident began as a home invasion, but do not yet know a motive for the triple shooting. Police K-9s tracked a scent from the apartment to clothes, across Mt. Zion, but do not know if the items are connected to the shooter or shooters, Dickens said.

Detectives have spoken to Brown, and "are pretty confident they've got good leads." Detectives are looking for witnesses, though, and ask anyone with information about the shootings to call Capt. Richard Gandee at (770) 477-3614.
