Russell C. Akins

Mr. Russell C. Akins, 57, of Locust Grove, passed away Nov. 25, 2007. He was born in Rome, Ga., to the late David Luther and Alice Inez Fortune Akins, and was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Russell was a plumber with Local Union 72; was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Rome and was a member of the Hampton Masonic Lodge #70, and was a Shriner. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and teaching hunting-education classes.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Akins, of Locust Grove; children, Tara and Charles G. Evans, of Forsyth, Shane Akins, of Forsyth, Brittney Petersen, of Locust Grove, and Shelbi Petersen, of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Christopher Akins and Natasha Evans; sisters-in-law, Helen Akins, of Rocky Face, and Mildred Akins, of Rome; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m., from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Mr. Shane Akins will officiate. Friends may visit the family Friday evening from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Linda Gail Davis

Mrs. Linda Gail Davis, 56, of Jonesboro, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2007. She was the daughter of the late Charles Steed and Virginia Kelly. She was preceded in death by one sister, Melanie Steed Craven and two brothers, Charles Steed and Ricky Steed.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include her loving children, Seth Davis, Jeff Davis and Jennifer Beard, and grandchildren, Cody Clark, Cassidy Clark, Braeen Taylor, Kennedy Beard, Kyler Beard, Trae Davis, Jaythan Davis, Courtney Armistead, Brooke Wang, and Justin Autry.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 30, from 9 a.m., to 9 p.m., at Holly Hill Funeral Home, 431 SW Broad Street, Fairburn, Ga., 30213.
