After being swept out the gym by its cross-county rivals last season, the Mundy's Mill Tigers welcome in the Riverdale Raiders to settle some unfinished business.
Tonight's highly-anticipated contest features two of the best teams in the county as the 3-0 Tigers take on the Raiders, who are ranked No. 6 in Class AAAA.
Mundy's Mill's undefeated run includes wins against Druid Hills, Shaw and Southwest Atlanta Christian.
Along with the balanced rosters, this game features several skilled individuals including Dennis Harris of Mundy's Mill and Ishmael John of Riverdale.
Earlier this month, Harris signed his scholarship letter to attend Louisiana State University next school year.
Harris is a towering forward who is rated by rivals.com as one of the best players in the state.
John is a point guard with excellent vision and ball-handling ability.
His speed and veteran leadership will be called upon heavily this season as the Raiders make a run at the state playoffs. After opening the year with a 70-40 rout over Mill Creek, the Raiders fell 73-71 in overtime to South Cobb on Nov. 19.
Perfection is the word of the day at Mundy's Mill High School as the Lady Tigers look to extend their unblemished record against Riverdale in tonight's early game.
The Lady Tigers hit the court at 4-0 and have won every game by an average margin of 13.5 points, including lopsided wins over Banneker and Southwest Atlanta Christian.
Unlike the boys team that swept Mundy's Mill, the Lady Raiders split their two games last season with the Lady Tigers.
Both match ups were too close for comfort as Riverdale dropped the first game 52-47 at home, only to come back and win 46-41 at Mundy's Mill in the rematch.
Mundy's Mill power forward Timethia Bennett averaged 14.5 points last year versus Riverdale and will look to continue her superior play as both teams renew acquaintances. Tip off for the girls' game is scheduled for 6 p.m. The boys contest will follow at 7:30 p.m.
