John Thomas Lyle

Mr. John Thomas Lyle, 49, of Locust Grove, passed away April 2, 2008 at the Henry Medical Center. John was born in Atlanta, to the late William Albert Lyle, Jr., and the late Anne Elliott Lyle. He was a very loving, generous person, who enjoyed making model cars, watching old Western movies, and tinkering with just about anything.

Survivors include his siblings, Penny Worley, of Connecticut, Paul (Teresa) Lyle, of Morrow, Susan (Juan) Sanchez, of Griffin, and Jeff Lyle, of Locust Grove; nieces and nephews, Barry Hobby, Duke Williams, Bunny Dunn, Katherine Scott, David Lyle, Ben St. John, Christine Williams, Becky Mosley, and Timothy Lyle; numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 7, from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Dr. Jerry Light will officiate. Interment will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery. Preston Tyler Dickerson

Preston Tyler Dickerson, age 4, of Griffin, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008. Preston was a lover of life and brought joy to everyone who knew him. He was everyone's "little hero." Preston attended Town Square Academy.

He is survived by his parents, Ray Dickerson, Jr., and Heather Rector; grandparents, Keith and Patty Rector (Mimi and Pawpaw), Carol White (Nana), Angela G. Dickerson (Gammah) and Ray Dickerson, Sr., (Grandpa); one great-grandfather, Alfred Wesley Gaines (Pa), one great-grandmother, Lucille Rector (Granny), and four aunts, Holley, Britt, Casey and Christy.

Dixie Lloyd

Dixie Lloyd, of Forest Park, passed away April 3, 2008.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 7, at the chapel, with Pastor Keith Ford officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, 4-8 p.m.

Josephine Bell Compton

Josephine Bell Compton, age 100, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008 at her home in Forest Park. She was born April 9, 1907 in Fulton County to Whit Henry and Anna Lizzie Quinn Sanders, and became a homemaker who provided love and care for her husband and children.

Mrs. Compton was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Peter Compton; three daughters, Peggy Vaughn, Pauline Maness, Doris Jeannette Lawson and a son, William Wilmoth.

She is survived by her children, Mary Anne Smith, of Locust Grove, Bettye Hendrix, of Dunwoody, Joyce Butler, of Jefferson, Jimmy Wilmoth, of Maysville, Marie Seay, of Forest Park; 30 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; two nephews, Phillip Sanders and Lee Sanders.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 6, at 2 p.m., at Horis A. Ward Parkway Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Jones and the Rev. Mike Clary officiating. Dorothy Dial Bryan

Mrs. Dorothy Dial Bryan, 89, of McDonough, passed away April 3, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Atlanta, to the late Oscar and Mattie Lou Cheney Dial. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Francis Bryan, and her son, Larry Bryan.

She retired after 27 years with the State of Georgia, having worked for the Georgia State Patrol and Medicaid. Dorothy was a member of Salem Baptist Church and enjoyed baking, arts and crafts and spending time with all of her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Ginger Bryan, of McDonough; grandchildren, Sean (Jennifer) Bryan, of Colorado, Deborah (Russell Hicks) Gorby, of Florida; great-grandchildren, Brandy Gorby, Taylor Bryan, Austin Bryan and Emma Bryan; great-great-granddaughter, Shay Gorby.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 7, at 3 p.m., from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick Statham will officiate. Interment will follow at Eastview Cemetery. Leatha Johnson

Leatha Johnson, 97, of Jonesboro, passed away Friday, April 4, 2008. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, April 6, at 3 p.m., at Sherwood Memorial Park. Rev. Gary Lewis will officiate.The family will receive friends Saturday, April 5, from 3-7 p.m., at the chapel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn L. Johnson, and is survived by daughters, Helen and William Cannady, of Nashville, Tenn., Joyce and Charles Brooks, of Jonesboro; brothers, Clarence Chandler and Horace Chandler; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
