Police seeking suspect in purse theft

Henry County Police are continuing to search for clues they hope will lead them to a woman who allegedly stole a purse from a shopping cart at a Stockbridge store last week.

The incident took place March 25 at approximately 6:15 p.m, at the Wal-Mart at 5600 N. Henry Blvd.

According to Henry Police Capt. Jason Bolton, a white female took the purse from a cart in the parking lot, then went inside the store with it.

"[She] then went into the ladies bathroom, where she stole items from the purse, to include credit cards, checks, a social security card, a military ID, cash and a cell phone," Bolton explained.

The suspect, said the captain, left the store bathroom, but did not take the purse with her.

Police have obtained video surveillance footage of the suspect, in which she is talking on a cell phone inside the store, but have been unable to locate her.

Anyone with information on the theft or the alleged suspect, is asked to contact Police Detective Beverly Martin at (770) 288-8250.
