Rev. Lloyd O. Lyle, 83, of Forest Park died Tuesday, April 22, 2008. He was born on Oct. 4, 1924 in Rockmart, Ga., son of the late Rufus and Heppie Lyle.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Norma Jean Lyle; step-daughter, Connie Brown; brothers, Edward Lyle, Lawrence Lyle, Cressful Lyle, Elmer Lyle; and sisters, Lora Holland, Cornie Lyle, Ethel Hannah, and Grace Spinks.

Rev. Lyle fought a long and courageous, faith-led battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis for several years. His faith in Christ never diminished and his smile never faded. His motto was "Always put Christ first and pray without ceasing." His favorite verse was Isaiah 40:31, "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint."

Rev. Lyle was in ministry for 60 years, from 1948 until 2008. He was an ordained minister who served as a pastor for numerous years at several different churches. He was a former pastor of People's Baptist Church in Morrow. Afterward, he traveled to many different countries, such as Cuba, Haiti, Russia, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, and Holland, as a missionary distributing God's word around the world. Later, he served as a missionary at the Chattanooga Airport in Chattanooga, Tenn., and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, where he distributed over 500,000 Gospels of John and tracts.

His greatest desire was to reach the lost. Many souls have come to Christ because of his dedication and faithfullness. He was a loving father, husband, brother and friend.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Mildred (Mickey) Lyle, Forest Park; children, Michael Lyle, McDonough; Richard Lyle, Forsyth; Kathy Holt, Stockbridge; Rhonda LaTourette, Jackson; step-children, Larry Smith, Fayetteville, Donnie Smith, Locust Grove, Terry Smith, Blairsville; and his sister, Dell Thompson, of Atlanta; 19 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
