Resident launches state's first Team Women chapter

Local businesswoman Lori Bhada plans to launch the state's first chapter of the San Diego-based business networking organization, known as Team Women.

"It really peaked my interest," Bhada said of the organization. She learned about Team Women while searching online for business networking groups to expand her own house supplements business.

The organization is geared toward providing female business professionals a networking forum from which they can build their businesses. Established in January 2005, it boasts of being one of the fastest-growing networking organizations in the United States with 78 chapters and more than 600 active members nationally.

Bhada would be the founding president of the North Henry County Chapter of Team Women, the first such chapter in the state. "I wanted to be the person to initiate it, because I thought it would be a wonderful thing for businesswomen here in Henry County."

The North Henry County Chapter kick-off meeting will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday at Heritage Bank, located at 203 Keys Ferry Street in McDonough. The meeting will be open to the public.

"I have lived in Henry County for probably about 15 years, and I have been running my own business since the year 2000," said Bhada, a wellness coach who does her business with Mannatech, Inc., in Coppell, Texas.

"I have really been trying to find other people to meet and do business with, but most people meet on the north side of Atlanta," she added. "Short term, I figure it's going to give me a great opportunity to meet other women who are business owners. Long term, I think it will eventually give me a long stream of business contacts to use."

So far, Bhada said she knows about five people who have expressed interest in joining the local chapter of the networking organization.

Each Team Women chapter is limited to 30 women, who each must serve the community in a different professional capacity, i.e. one attorney and insurance agent per chapter.

"The purpose of Team Women is to help all of the team members achieve business success through referrals," said Judi Finneran, the owner and president of Team Women. "The way you grow your own business is by helping other women grow theirs. Team Women is looking forward to forming their chapter in the North Henry County area."

Team Women chapter meetings are held every two weeks, and members pay an annual membership fee from the date they join the organization. For more, visit the Team Women web site.
