Forest Park police arrested three teens, who allegedly fired from a moving vehicle in a "road rage incident," fled from police, and then had a standoff with a SWAT team.
Mike Smith, a 17-year-old from Forest Park, Will Wright, an 18-year-old from East Point, and Hector Sanchez, a 17-year-old from Forest Park, surrendered to the Clayton County Police Department's Special Weapons and Tactics team at about 5 p.m., Wednesday.
The incident started in Atlanta, on Interstate 75, according to Forest Park Maj. Chris Matson. It was reported to the Hapeville Police Department. A witness said several gunshots were fired from a silver, Chevrolet Malibu.
Hapeville police pursued the Malibu into Forest Park, where the Forest Park police picked up the chase, according to Matson.
At 417 Barton Dr., near Water's Edge Apartments, the three teens allegedly jumped from the Malibu and fled on foot. The officers established a perimeter around the apartment complex, and chased the suspects with a police dog to an apartment where they were hiding.
When the SWAT team responded to Water's Edge, the three surrendered "without incident," according to the Forest Park Police.
Details about the alleged crimes in the three different jurisdictions are still being sorted out by detectives, Matson said Thursday.
