Virginia Davis, age 86 of McDonough, Ga., died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008. She was born in Springfield, Mass. to the late Charles A. Stephens and Miriam B. Stephens. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Davis. Mrs. Davis graduated from Bradford College in Massachusetts. She enjoyed pleasure riding on her Paso Fino horses, loved golf, oil painting, playing bridge and watching the Braves.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her daughter, Christine (Ron L.) Bass; son, William C. Davis, both of Stockbridge, Ga.; grandsons, Jeffrey R. (Sharon) Cash, Jason H. (Kristy) Cash; great-grandchildren, Virginia , Brandon, Courtney, Hunter, and Ava; and sister, Barbara (Lew) Erwin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 8, 2008 at The Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. Dudley Rose and Rev. Rachael Knoll officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will received friends Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Ronald L Motes
Mr. Ronald L Motes, age 64 of Hampton, Ga., died Dec. 5, 2008 at home. Mr. Motes was born in Atlanta but raised in Anderson, S.C. He is survived by his wife of 29 years Cynthia Conner Motes; his children, Jill and Eric Welch of Arlington, Va., Emory and Melissa Conner of Hampton, and Sabrina Motes of Hampton, one grandchild Tristen Conner, and two Aunts Georgia Roberson of Anderson, S.C. and Becky Motes of Atlanta. He was an engineer for the city of Fayetteville, and an Army Veteran serving during the Viet Nam Era in Germany. He was also a member of Liberty Hills Baptist Church in Hampton.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Liberty Hills Baptist Church with the remains placed in state at 1 p.m. Rev. Mike Henderson will officiate, interment to follow in the church cemetery.
