Pets of the Week - Dec. 18, 2008

Special photos

Angelo is a three year old, orange and white domestic shorthair. When a "good Samaritan" witnessed poor Angelo being hit by a car, she jumped in and tried to help. She scooped Angelo up, took him to a vet, then took him home to live with her. She realized very quickly that her dogs were not happy about Angelo's arrival in the home, and the dogs began to harass poor Angelo. Angelo was frightened and unhappy, and it was decided that Angelo would come to CCHS and we would attempt find him a new home. Upon his arrival, it was immediately noted that he seemed very weak and painful in his hindquarters. While being examined by the CCHS veterinarian, it was discovered that there were some pelvic fractures that had been missed by the original vet. After a long recovery, Angelo is now "good as new", and ready for a new home and family. Angelo is an extremely sweet little guy who just gets along well with everyone he meets. He also does very well with other cats. For more information, please call Robin at 770/478-7531. Visit www.claytoncountyhumane.org to see other animals available for adoption.

Tara is a 3 year old Shepherd mix. She has been spayed and fully vaccinated. Tara was hit by a car, and then picked up by Animal Control. Since the County could not provide veterinary care for Tara, Animal Control contacted CCHS and asked for help with her. CCHS immediately took custody of Tara, and secured the badly needed medical attention that she required. For a short time, there was hope that Tara would be able to eventually use her badly injured leg, but it was soon decided that the leg would have to be amputated. The amputation has now been done, and Tara is doing very well. She does not seem to be suffering any hardships from the loss of her leg. Tara is a wonderful, sweet dog and she seems to adore humans. However, she has made it very clear that she does not like other animals. For more information, please call Clayton County Humane Society at 770/471-9436.
