Cleo Carmack Hudson
Cleo Carmack Hudson, of College Park, died in her sleep on Dec. 25, 2008.
She was 75. Cleo was born on April 15, 1933 in Jonesboro, as the only child of Louise Whaley Carmack and John Daniel "Tamp" Carmack. She retired in 1998 from Woodward Academy where she taught for 30 years. She was an acclaimed, and much-loved, teacher.
Cleo was the first chairperson of the Woodward Fine Arts program, coach of the Debate Team, Homecoming Court Coordinator, and seven-time Star Teacher. She was preceded in death by her late husband, William Christoff Hudson.
She is survived by her companion Charles Knott, and two sons, Daniel V. and Kevin H. Hudson; grandchildren, Heather Brody, William "Mc" Hudson, Branin Hudson, and Gerard Hudson; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Hall, Gavin Brody, and Katie Brody.
A memorial service will be held on Friday Jan. 2, at 3 p.m., in the St. John's Episcopal Church, 3480 East Main St., College Park, Ga. A reception will follow immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cleo Hudson Scholarship Fund at Woodward Academy, 1662 Rugby Ave., College Park, Ga. 30337.
