Pets of the Week - Dec. 4, 2008
Sophie is a gray and white domestic shorthair. She is approximately one and a half years old, and she has been spayed and fully vaccinated. Sophie was living as a stray in a local feral (wild) colony. A CCHS staffer was feeding and caring for this colony, including trapping and sterilizing them. When Sophie was trapped, the plan was to spay her and then to re-release her back into her colony, But Sophie quickly showed that she was not feral; someone had likely dumped her with the other cats who actually were feral. Realizing that Sophie had most likely been someone's pet, CCHS knew that she could not be returned to the colony. Sophie has now been sterilized and fully vaccinated, and is ready to be adopted. She is extremely sweet and good-natured, and she does well with other cats. She is also a "polydactyl" cat. This means that she has extra "toes", and it is believed by many that polydactyl cats bring good luck into the homes where they live! For more information, please call Robin at 770/478-7531.
