Stately Oaks Plantation, located at 100 Carriage Lane in Jonesboro, is looking for couples to participate in a Renewal of Marriage Vows on Saturday, Feb. 16.
Couples can recommit to their marriages in the beautiful Bethel Schoolhouse before a Christian minister. Each couple will receive a certificate of renewal suitable for framing, and a "reception to go" basket containing a small cake, cider and other treats. In addition, throughout the month of February, Stately Oaks will offer special Victorian Romance Tours. Guests will learn about the customs and rules for courtship and marriage as experienced during the ante-bellum period, such as the true meaning for the word "bride," (which comes from an old English word for "cook"). Every gentleman who visits Stately Oaks during February will be given a Victorian Valentine to present to his lady. Reservations for the Renewal of Marriage Vows must be made no later than Wednesday, Feb. 13 by calling (770) 473-0197. - from staff reportsMore like this story
