The Morrow Police Department is now accepting applications for a Citizens Police Academy, an eight-week program beginning in March.
Would-be applicants can call (678) 859-8289. Sgt. Graham Denio said the city police department has held the class for seven years. "The purpose of the program is to give citizens an introduction to the police department and all its functions," Denio said. "It just gives them a better understanding." The 25 people who join the class will meet for two hours every Tuesday evening, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The eight-week program begins on March 18, and ends with a ride along, in which the citizens spend a shift in a police car with an officer as the officer responds to calls. Applicants must pass a background check, but do not need to be citizens of Morrow to participate, Denio said. - Daniel SillimanMore like this story
