Walter Tackett

Walter Tackett, 75, of Jonesboro passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, March 1, at 3p.m., at Jonesboro Church of God, with Pastor Danny Henderson officiating.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Tackett; daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and Landry Merkison; son and daughter-in-law, Jamey and Tanya Haney; brother, Herbert Tackett; and grandchildren, Codi Lowman and Mariah Haney. Elbert E. Gilbert

Elbert E. Gilbert, 79, of Jonesboro, passed away, Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was owner of Gilbert's Auto Service, Inc., and a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro.

He is survived by his wife, Jo; children and spouses; David Eugene and Tonya Gilbert, of Jackson; Timothy Wayne and Janis Gilbert, of Paradise, Texas; Nancy Yvonne and Mike Massey, of Tyrone; Daniel Martin and Veronica Gilbert, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; brother, Robert Gilbert, of Stockbridge; sisters, Joyce Bowen, of Forest Park, Marie Allen, of Locust Grove, and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held, Saturday, March 1, at 11a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro Worship Center. Dr. Charles Q. Carter and the Rev. Irvin Pearre will officiate. Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends TODAY (Friday, Feb. 29), from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
