Mr. Thomas Jefferson Wade
Mr. Thomas Jefferson Wade, age 92 of McDonough, Ga., passed away Jan. 6, 2008.
Mr. Wade was born in Crawford County, Ga., the son of the late Ida Bell Parker and Robert Lee Wade. Tom was born and raised on a small family farm in Byron, Ga. Due to the Great Depression, he went to New York City at the age of 18 along with his brothers and sisters to find work. He joined the Fire Department of New York and rose to the rank of Battalion Chief over 21 years of service. He served his country in the US Navy Seabees in WWII from 1943-1945. He returned to Georgia in 1961 with his family to raise cattle in Henry County. He as his wife Margaret were founding members of St. James Catholic Church. In 1990 he formed the Wade Cattle Farm with his son Jeff, which is still in operation.
Tom was a devoted son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret Macko Wade; children, Renee and Lester Anderson of McDonough, Andrea Lee Wade of Alexandria, Va., Maggie and George Hodges of College Park, and Jeff and Janet Wade of McDonough; grandchildren, Larry Anderson, Samantha and Ray Fowler, Wade and Ingrid Anderson, Maruja and Betto Ramos, Laurel Anderson, Parker Thomas Hodges, Margaret Hodges, Jackson Wade, Bella Wade and Gracie Wade; six great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; brother, Robert Calvin Wade of Lilburn; sister, Sara Wade and husband Claude Connelley of Columbia, S.C.; sister-in-law, Mildred Wade of Macon and numerous nieces and nephews. A son, Thomas Jefferson Wade, grandson, Gordon Anderson, sisters, Minnie Adamson, Susie Wade, Anne Robbins, Emily Smith and Nell Wade, and a brother, Benjamin Wade, all preceded him in death.
A funeral Mass for Mr. Wade will be Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008 - 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Msg. Terry Young officiating. Interment will be at Macon Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Grover Lamar Russell
Mr. Grover Lamar Russell, age 89 of McDonough, Ga., passed away Jan. 5, 2008 at Sacred Journey Hospice. Mr. Russell was born in Henry County, the son of the late Cleo Knight and Grover Buchanan Russell. He was a life long member of Timberridge Presbyterian Church, he graduated McDonough High School Class of 1936, worked at Planters Warehouse during high school and joined them full time after WWII, he attended Maryville College for 3 years, he joined the US Army in 1941 and retired Army Reserves as a Major with 20 years of service receiving two purple hearts and a bronze star, he retired from Planters Warehouse as President with 47 years. Mr. Russell received a life membership with the McDonough Kiwanis Club after 35 years. He was very active as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, The Food Pantry and many other volunteer venues.
His wives, Talitha Minter Russell, Edythe Hightower Russell, and Evelyn Benson Russell; siblings, Louise Stanton, Grace Salter and Elizabeth Farguson preceded him in death.
Survivors are his children, Ray and Becky Russell, Janet and Shane Shellnutt, Bill Russell and Brenda Kendrick, Beth and Danny Steele, Bill and Denise Hightower, Mike and Julie Hightower, Brad and Terri Hightower all of McDonough; grandchildren, Scott Russell, Billy and Sarah Russell, Cody Steele, Robert Russell, Kelsey Steele, Lauren Dail, J.T. Shellnutt, Hope Shellnutt, Katie Russell, Ginger Hightower, Christy and Mark Mortimer, Trey Hightower and Clint Foster and Alison Foster; great grandchildren, Hannah Russell, Gabe Russell and Logan Mortimer; siblings, Catherine Bohanon of Conyers, Ruth Waldrop and J. B. Russell of McDonough; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Russell will be Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008 - 11 a.m. at Timberridge Presbyterian Church with Rev. Matt Allison officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Dora L. Peters
Dora L. Peters, age 80 of Stockbridge, was called to home on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, Jan. 7, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Pope Dickson & Son - Morrow Chapel with Rev. Tom Shannon officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Park.
Her family received friends at the funeral on Sunday, Jan. 6 from 4-8 p.m.
She is predeceased in death by her husband, James E.L. Peters, Sr.; daughter, Susan Carol Moore; brother, Dale Wright; sisters, Betty Dumas and Bonnie Rilling.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Doll; son and daughter-in-law, James E.L. (Jim) Peters, Jr. and his wife, Lois; grandchildren, Larry Denman, Scott Denman, Gary Denman, Julie Moore, Tammy Peters-Gilreath, and James E.L. Peters, III; great grandchildren, Cherise Denman, Johathon Denman, Kimberly Cargile, Charlotte Gilreath; great great grandchildren, Mira Denman; brother Glen Wright; sisters, Phyllis Filoso and Sonja Bennett; and several nieces and nephews.

Jack Hicks, age 68 of McDonough, passed away Jan. 4, 2008. Mr. Hicks is predeceased by his mother, father and brother.
Mr. Hicks retired from the City of Atlanta as operating engineer at the Atlanta airport.
Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife, Penny Hicks; daughter, Christy Hicks; sisters, Patrician Sandlin, Lynda Earnest and Janet Nelson; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Hicks will be held Monday, Jan. 7, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. at Ward's Fairview Chapel with Mike Liles officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Albert David Miller
Mr. Albert David Miller, age 78 of Hampton, Ga., passed away Jan. 4, 2008.
Mr. Miller was born in Ovid, Colo. the son of the late Elizabeth and John Miller.
Mr. Miller was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church, he served his country in the US Navy, and was a devoted family man who loved and enjoyed his family, selling books on e-bay, History Channel, avid Braves fan, and enjoyed traveling and the beach.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, John and Kenneth Miller and Freida Statham.
Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Frankie Martin Miller of Hampton; children, Frank and Carole Miller of Morganton, Ga., Kaye and Jerry Bullard of Harlem, Ga., Jennie Miller of Hampton, Cindy and Rick Foust of Monroe, N.C.; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren; sisters, Esther Webber of Denver, Colo., Alice Applehans of Commerce City, Colo., Carol Deliere of Denver, Colo.; brothers, Harold and Walter Miller of Denver, Colo. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Miller were Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008 - 3 p.m. at Liberty Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Henderson and Rev. Mike Patterson officiating.
