If you reside in Clayton County, then the weekend plans normally include shopping, church and Southern Crescent basketball sandwiched in between at a high school gym near you.

Well, fans won't have far to look for an entertaining game over the next 48 hours, as every local team plays within county lines except Mt. Zion, which travels to Griffin tonight with the girls tipping off at 6 p.m.

Perhaps, the marquee match of the weekend features the No. 6-ranked (AAAA) North Clayton Lady Eagles versus the Jonesboro Lady Cardinals.

North Clayton, which previously held the No. 1-ranking, still resides atop the standings in Region 4A-AAAA at 5-0 and 12-3 overall.

However, Jonesboro is right on its heels at 4-1 in league play and 12-4 overall.

After being upset by Morrow in the Peach State Classic, which was played at Morehouse College, the Lady Eagles have racked up consecutive wins over Forest Park and Mt. Zion.

Jonesboro takes the floor tonight having won four-of-five, with its lone defeat coming on Dec. 28 against the No. 9-ranked (AAA) Sandy Creek Fighting Patriots.

Last season, North Clayton swept Jonesboro, winning 51-42 and 40-36 respectively.

Those two games were the difference in the standings as North Clayton won the regular season league title with a 12-1 record.

Jonesboro placed second at 11-3 in 4A-AAAA during the 2006-07 season.

Immediately following the girls, the boys will lock heads as North Clayton seeks to win its fourth-straight, while Jonesboro aims to continue its torrid pace through the schedule en route to a potential playoff bid next month.

Mundy's Mill travels to Morrow, continuing a month-long schedule of road games.

The travel-tested Tigers and Lady Tigers appear unfazed by their school bus journeys as both teams boast a combined record of 26-2.

Mundy's Mill can make a strong argument of showcasing the best basketball program in the county and statewide. Currently, the boys are ranked fourth, while the girls are the tenth-ranked squad in Class AAAAA.

After playing Morrow, Mundy's Mill hits the road again, but this time it's a short trip across town for a Saturday night rematch with Riverdale.

Earlier this week, Riverdale visited Lovejoy and posted a sweep over its regional rivals.

Riverdale and Mundy's Mill last squared off on Nov. 30.

However, Riverdale's girls and boys teams left the gym empty-handed after being swept in front of the rowdy Tiger student body.

Other Clayton games for the weekend include Lovejoy at Forest Park tonight and Lovejoy at Morrow beginning Saturday at 4 p.m.
