Whatever happened to people having manners?
I was talking to someone on the phone the other day and the person coughed in my ear almost during the entire conversation.
It was not just a little cough, here and there, the person could barely engage in the conversation because of the coughing.
I was thinking in my head, "Why don't you just call me back?" She did not even say excuse me. It was pretty rude.
That telephone conversation wasn't the only time recently that I questioned someone's home training. I had another annoying incident at the bank. Cell phones are really convenient, and I really do not know what I would do without mine. But I know when and where to have a telephone conversation.
For example, the bank has got to be the worst place people choose to have a long conversation on their cell phones. For some reason, the conversation always takes place while the person is behind me. I mean, it never fails.
The last time this happened I was in a local bank, and I probably should have just left my place in line when I heard someone's loud ring tone blaring behind me. Instead of the girl picking up the phone [because I am sure she had Caller ID], she allows the song to play out, and bobs her head like she never heard it before.
When she finally answered the phone, the person on the other end must have told her some bad news, because she cursed them out like she was the only one in the room.
It was ridiculous. I was thinking in my head, "Why doesn't she just take the call outside, or ask the person to call her back?"
Instead, she continued ranting and raving about how the caller on the other end "doesn't know who she is, or how she gets down." It was so embarrassing everyone was staring at her, and she acted like she did not even notice.
One other thing that has gotten under my skin lately is the fact that some males do not hold the door for ladies anymore. A while ago, I was walking into a store and there was an elderly lady in front of me. She was trying to open a door. The guy in front of her let it slam in her face and kept walking.
I could not believe it. It was so rude, and the lady was pretty mad as well.
