Two brothers were shot while sitting in a Buick Thursday night, Clayton County Police said.
The brothers, Natrevor Winegalss, 22, and Anthony Deshon Orange, 19, both of Jonesboro, were waiting for a friend at 330 Arrowhead Blvd., according to Kendrick Singleton, a third brother, in a statement to the police.
Singleton, a 21-year-old Decatur man, said the three drove to the Arrowhead Boulevard apartments looking for a friend. The friend wasn't there, so the three sat in the white, 1992 Buick LeSabre, and waited.
While sitting there, Singleton reportedly said, the three smoked marijuana, and were then fired upon by a unknown man. The police report noted that there were seven or eight bullet holes in the side of the vehicle.
Gun shots shattered the back window, the officer on the scene reported.
Orange, sitting in the front, passengers' seat, was struck in the shoulder. Wineglass, sitting in the back of the Buick, was hit in the leg. Singleton wasn't wounded, and drove his brothers to Southern Regional Medical Center down the street.
The injuries were not believed to be life threatening, police said.
Wineglass described the assailant to police, as a white or Hispanic male, wearing black clothes.
Officers searched the Buick, because of the smell of marijuana, and found a .380-caliber pistol in the glove compartment. Singleton allegedly confessed to owning the gun, and was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.
