Montine Williams Tomasello

Mrs. Montine Williams Tomasello, 74, fought a courageous battle with cancer and won. Montine was called home on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008.

She was born on Oct. 18, 1933 in Meriweather County, Ga. She graduated from Forest Park High School in 1950. She attended Pensacola Business College in Pensacola, Fla.

A devoted Christian and member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church, she dedicated her life to Christ as His servant through volunteering in the United Methodist Women, preparing meals for Wednesday night suppers, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and giving devotions at various Church functions.

Montine devoted her time and talents for more than 17 years as a volunteer troop leader for The Girl Scouts of America. She dedicated more than 50 years to running Williams & Tomasello Tax Service on Main Street in Forest Park, and retired in 1992. She continued preparing tax returns until 2006. Additionally, she worked as an election official for Clayton County for 32 years, as a clerk, manager and coordinator.

Montine is survived by her husband, Jerome I. Tomasello, whom she was married to for 57 years and resided with him in Union City, Ga. She is survived by her daughters, sons, daughters-in-law and sons-in-law: Elizabeth A. Tomasello and Donna Skinner; Terry Tomasello and Stephen Grass; Robert and Janice Tomasello; William and Dawn Tomasello; and Becky and Bob Massave; 15 grandchildren, Adrienne and Jonathan Bagley; Seth Thompson; Laura, Rachel and Daniel Grass; Ben and Bailey Tomasello; Jordan, Jenny and Jessica Tomasello; Audrey and Claire Safrit; Naomi and Dylan Massave. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Sarah Bagley.

Montine was the middle of seven children and is preceded in death by her brother, Alvin Otis Williams, Jr., and brother-in-law, Walter Brown. She is survived by her sisters, brother and their spouses: Louise Brown, Doris and William Haynie, Jane and Harold Stone, Van and Brenda Williams, and Mickie Williams; 103 nieces and nephews and their children. Montine is preceded in death by her father, Alvin Otis Williams, Sr., and her mother, Annie Maude Gill Williams.

Funeral services for Montine will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Jones Memorial First United Methodist Church, 5320 Phillips Drive, Morrow, Ga. The Rev. Jay Tenney, the Rev. Candy Thacker and the Rev. Dan Slagle will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Forest Park, immediately following the service. Relatives and friends are welcome at the Tara Gardens Chapel, 681 North Avenue, Jonesboro, on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 6-9 p.m.

Mrs. Cherry Hall

Mrs. Cherry Hall, 76, of Morrow, passed away on Jan. 19, 2008. Mrs. Hall was a member of Heatherwood Baptist Church and was retired from the State Department of Corrections after 25 years of faithful service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie M. Hall, Jr., and daughter, Ruth Kyzer.

She is survived by her daughters, Beth (Allan) Youngblood, Dahlongea; Peggy (Jim) Oberst, Jonesboro; Debra Rhymer, Jonesboro; sons, Charlie (Wanda) Hall, Riverdale; Clifford Hall, Morrow; grandchildren, Ryan Hall, Riverdale; Amy (Jeremy) Liggett, Newnan;Penny (Donnie) Gilmer, Jonesboro; James (Shannon) Oberst, McDonough; Joshua (Lauren) Oberst, Jackson; Chris Kyzer, Sharpsburg; Eric (Mandy) Kyzer, Newnan; Jeremy (Kate) Youngblood, Cleveland; Jessica (Brody) Clements, Cleveland; Brittney Rhymer, Michael Rhymer; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Tinkey Cann, Senoia; brother, Eugene (Bud) Allen, Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hall was a very special, one-of-a-kind wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Tom Dougherty officiating. Wretha P. Bryant

Wretha P. Bryant, 65, of Covington passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999, Charles "Pete" Bryant.

Wretha is survived by her daughters, Ann (Greg) Johnson, of Monticello, Tina Morris, of Jacksonville, Fla.; son, Timmy Morris, of Atlanta; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three brothers, Joe Strickland, Howard Strickland and Ray Strickland, all of Commerce.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m., at Hillandale Memorial Park, 6201 Hillandale Drive, Lithonia, Ga., 30058, with the Rev. Joe Mauthe officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Jan. 22, 1-6 p.m., at the funeral home. Horis A.
