Julian Kenneth Godwin
Mr. Julian Kenneth Godwin, of Rome, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008 in McDonough. He was born Dec. 4, 1958 in Fulton County, to Betty Jean Smith Godwin and Julian K. (Red) Godwin. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved to spend time fishing with family and friends. Prior to his illness, he worked in the heating and air conditioning business.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Paige Reid Godwin; son, Julian Reid Godwin; three brothers and six sisters, James (Renee) Godwin, Judy (Fred) Moore, Sandra (Kim) Sauls, Jeannie Godwin, Deborah (Harry) Knisell, Wanda (Kenny) Cook, Tracy (Kaye) Godwin, Tim (Kat) Godwin, and Melinda Godwin; father and mother-in-law, J.P. and Laverne Reid; brothers and sisters-in-law, Angela (Michael) Trapp, Phil Reid, and Alison Martin; special aunts, Neil Akins and Dot Godwin; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 31, 5-7 p.m., with a memorial service following at 7 p.m., at the Sherrell, Wilson, Mangham Funeral Home in Jackson. A second visitation and memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, 5-7 p.m., at Fellowship Baptist Church in Rome. Gene "T-Shirt Kelly" Spezia
Gene "T-Shirt Kelly" Spezia, 77, of McDonough, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008. He was born in Cayuga, Ind., to the late Camille Spezia and Bessie Ellen McGinnis. T-Shirt Kelly served in the Air Force from 1947 to 1950. He was owner and operator of G & K Enterprises in Riverdale and worked along side his wife, Barbara, for 35 years. He enjoyed traveling, yard sales, and flea markets. But most of all, independence and life itself.
T-Shirt Kelly is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Spezia, of McDonough; daughters, Kelly (Eddie) Hellinger, McDonough, Gina (Mark) Whisnant, Stockbridge;five grand sons, Cameron, Tyler, Jaret, Dylan, and Walker; sisters, Madeline Everett, of Florida, and Shirly Brauaier, of Washington. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Spezia.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31, at The Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Cindy Kelley officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 31, 3-4 p.m., at the funeral home.

Betty Ann Brown Holmes
Mrs. Betty Ann Brown Holmes, 74, of McDonough, passed away Jan. 28, 2008. Mrs. Holmes was born in Floyd County, Ga., the daughter of the late Nettie Neola Cobb and Jesse Jackson Brown. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. Betty enjoyed her family, shopping, reading, needle work, cooking and studying her bible. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Jane Brown Thompson, and a sister, Barbara Rotella.
Survivors are her husband, Oliver Wendell Holmes, of McDonough; children, Darrell and Marianna Brown, and Sue and Christopher Evans, of McDonough; stepson, Michael Shane Holmes in the U.S. Navy; grandchildren, Rachel Brown, of Huntington Beach, Calif., Richard Evans and Julie Johnson, of Mableton, Derrick Thompson, of Montgomery, and Jennifer Thompson, of Montgomery; great-grandchild, Kyra Harrell, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Betty Holmes will be Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 11a.m., at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough, with the Rev. Steve Murell and Pastor Dave Riley officiating.
