James McCoy, 65, of McDonough, passed away on July 1, 2008 at Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha Christine, and Leo McCoy; sisters, Doris Hayes and Joyce Willis.
James was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He loved life and was a people person and never met a stranger. His passion in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid University of Georgia Bulldog football fan and loved talking and joking about the Dawgs.
He retired from Food Giant Grocery after 25 years of faithful service, and continued his career with the Clayton County Board of Education for 12 years. He was an active member of Glen Haven Baptist Church of McDonough.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda, of McDonough; sons, Dennis, of Acworth, Jeff and wife, Kathy; and daughter, Cyndi Williams, of Stockbridge. He was granddad to Brett and Matt McCoy, of Alabama, and PawPaw to Austin, Cameron, Daulton and Dylan. He is also survived by his sisters; Shirley and husband, Gene Richardson; and Martha and husband, Jimmy Gresham, both of Lilburn, Ga.; Gail McCoy, of Spring, Texas, and nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 3, at 2 p.m., in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ralph Easterwood officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge. The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening.
