jsmith@henryherald.com Authorities in Hall County have released the name of a Henry County man who was found dead Thursday. The Hall County Sheriff's Department is conducting an investigation into the death of 45-year-old Chris Jones, of McDonough. His body was reportedly discovered at Holiday Marina, near Lake Lanier. According to sheriff's department spokesperson, Maj. Jeff Strickland, the victim was found at approximately 1 p.m., after authorities received a call about a possible dead body on a cabin cruiser. He said police believe they know why Jones died. "[Authorities] ... determined the interior of the boat contained high levels of carbon monoxide," said Strickland. "The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim had taken his boat to the marina service dock the night before, and spent the night on the boat with the generator running. It appears that the fumes from the generator filled the boat, and caused [Jones'] death." Strickland said the death appears to have been an accident, and added that foul play is not suspected in the case. An autopsy of the body has been scheduled, and the case is still under investigation.More like this story
