Arts Clayton's "Taste of Summer Wine Tasting," presented in partnership with Highway 138 Package Store, will be held on July 10, from 6-9 p.m., at 136 South Main St., in Jonesboro. The Clayton County Collaborative Authority invites individuals to submit applications for its fourth annual Grassroots Leadership Institute. The program, developed to prepare a generation of leaders, is open to all men and women who are truly committed to development and unity in the community. The institute is free to the public, but application is required. Applications are available July 7 to 31, and there is a $25 processing fee. The Clayton County Extension Office will have its first Farmers Market on Saturday, July 12, in the front parking lot, 1262 Government Circle, Jonesboro, from 9 a.m., to 3 p.m. The market will continue on the second and fourth Saturdays in July, August and September. On Monday, July 14, the Lynn Wheeler Benefit Golf Tournament will be held at Eagle's Brooke County Club in Locust Grove. Wheeler, wife of the head of the Clayton State University Music Department, Dr. Douglas Wheeler, was diagnosed with cancer in 2005, and suffered a serious spinal injury in a Christmas Day accident, that same year. She is confined to a wheelchair and has to use a respirator. Covenant Presbyterian Church wants "to bless Lynn as she has blessed us," and is holding a fund-raising golf tournament. The Clayton State University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will be holding its Entrepreneur Development Series (EDS) at the School of Business in July. The Headquarters Library of the Clayton County Library System is looking for people of all ages to display their artwork, collectibles, or examples of their crafts at the library.
