Master Sgt. Mitchell W. Young
Master Sgt. Mitchell W. Young died on July 13, while on a reconnaissance mission in southern Afghanistan. Mitch was on his third tour of duty in Afghanistan at the time of his death. A Jonesboro High School graduate, the son of Jane Young and the late "Dutch" Young, Mitch attended North Georgia College after, which he joined the Army in 1991. In 1999, he became a member of Special Forces and earned his "Green Beret."
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Pristine Chapel, 7541 Mt. Zion Blvd., Jonesboro. Mitch is survived by his wife, Robyn, of Fayetteville, N.C.; his mother, Jane, of Jonesboro; sister, Cheryl, of Peachtree City; brother, Brent, of Decatur; and several nieces and one nephew.
Kathryn "Louise" Judson
Kathryn "Lousie" Judson, of Forest Park, passed away July 23, 2008 at Southern Regional Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Don Judson, of Forest Park; daughters, Deborah Garrett, of Lawrenceville, Linda Grizzard, of Locust Grove; sons, Dan and Donna Judson, of Stockbridge, Larry and Kim Judson, of Newnan; sisters, Dianne and Johnny Kyser, of Covington; brothers, Gary and Mavis Walker, of Covington, Disque and Kay Walker, of Lexington, S.C., Cyrus Walker, of Covington; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of the Thomas Scroggs Funeral Home, 6362 South Lee St., in Morrow, with Dr. Reed Crumbliss officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, 5-8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
