McDonough Police seek bank robbery suspect

Authorities are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Friday at a bank in McDonough.

The incident took place at the First Bank at 1379 Ga. Highway 20. McDonough Police Detective Ken Noble said a white male came into the bank at approximately 2:30 p.m., and took money from bank personnel.

"As of right now, we don't have an ... amount of cash that was taken," said Noble. "We're still trying to do some more investigating, to make sure we understand what was said, and if there were any threats [made] to the tellers."

He said police were not immediately able to determine how long the culprit was inside the bank, before fleeing the scene. "The subject left the location, and possibly got into a green, older model Lincoln LS," said Noble, adding that no one inside the bank was injured in the incident.

No tag number was obtained from the vehicle, and police are still trying to determine whether the bank robber was armed during the incident.

Noble said police were "still processing the scene" Friday afternoon. "Right now, we're just looking at video surveillance, speaking with bank employees, and trying to piece this thing together."

Police Maj. Jeff Floyd said agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation were expected to assist with the case Friday.
