What does being 'Saved' really mean? - James C. Bell

I'm afraid some people shy away from the word "Saved," because they don't understand what it really means, or they may think, saved from what?

They don't feel they need to be saved from anything, or that they need to change their lifestyle or their way of living. The word is almost always associated with the church and certainly with Jesus Christ, as He is the Savior of all people and the only hope of eternal life.

These same people don't understand or know they are also "lost" as pertaining to God and the church. Those who are not Christians and are not familiar with certain church terms are unaware of their spiritual condition.

They do not know they are in the grasp of Satan and are in the dark as far as things of God are concerned. They don't realize their life is in danger of death and the fires of hell. This condition is exactly where Satan wants them to be and he will stop at nothing to keep them from the light of Jesus Christ.

Satan is the great deceiver and the father of all liars. His main mission is to keep souls in ignorance and away from the light of the world, Jesus, who brings people from the darkness into the blessed light of God and frees them from the sins that bind them to Satan and his evil ways.

He makes the sinful life look so good to those who follow him, but it is actually filled with traps and snares that create so many of the world's problems and ruins the life of those who live for him.

They are completely fooled as to the best way to live their lives and the wonders of God that are waiting for those who believe in Him and accept the truth of Jesus Christ.

The Bible says, "The fool has said in his heart, there is no God." Please read all of Psalm 14, which tells of how evildoers live and the folly of evil men.

Galatians, Chapter 5, tells of the acts of the sinful nature. Start at verse 19, "The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery, idolatry and witchcraft, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy, drunkenness, orgies and the like."

These are the lifestyles and sins one needs to be "Saved" from, for people who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Then, there are good things and great lifestyles that those who are "Saved" enjoy; verse 22 says, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control."

Those who belong to Jesus Christ by accepting His truth and believing in God and placing their faith in Jesus Christ, trust in Him completely and seek to live for Him. They live in the light of God's truth; they read His Word and follow His teachings.

Because God loves every man, woman and child in this world, He wants all to be "Saved," to live free from the chains of sin and Satan, to truly live lives of joy and peace and happiness.

Please don't listen to the lies of Satan and his devils and be lulled to sleep by his deceptions, don't be led down the pathway of sin thinking this is the way to live, to have fun and be happy.

Some think they should live just as they please, and that whatever they want to do is the right thing. They say this is true freedom, but it is the deception of Satan and his evil ways and this lifestyle will bring you much sorrow.

Why live in denial of God and Jesus Christ? Why be afraid of the word, "Saved?" Place your belief in Jesus Christ and give Him your trust and devotion. Then, you will truly experience love and peace and joy in your life.

You will find true Christians who love you and understand and experience faithfulness and trust, not only in God but in His people. You will know what the word "Saved" really means, for you will know our great God and have His marvelous gift of Eternal Life.

May God bless you.
