Mr. James T. "Jim" O'Neal, 85, of Jackson, died Thursday, April 24, 2008
at the Westbury Medical Care Home in Jackson.
Mr. O'Neal was born Dec. 1, 1922 in Butts County. He was the son of
the late John Rueben O'Neal and the late Marilu Ingram O'Neal. He was a
veteran of World War II, as a member of the Army Air Force.
He returned to Butts County and purchased land adjacent to his parents in the Tussahaw
community. He operated a commercial egg production facility as well as a
sheep and cattle business. He owned and operated the O'Neal Trailer Park.
Mr. O'Neal was a vocational instructor in Newton and Henry counties,
retiring in 1984. He was an active member of the Stark United Methodist
Church,where he held many leadership positions. He went on mission trips to
Mexico and was very passionate about the River of Life program.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sarah Snow O'Neal, of Jackson; two
daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Richard Byrd, of Jackson; Patty and
Major Bill Crooks, of Langley Air Force Base, Va.; grandchildren, Casey and
Cassie Byrd, of Fayetteville; Jonathan Crooks, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; James Crooks,
of Langley Air Force Base, Va.; one brother, Billy O'Neal, of Jackson;
sister-in-law, Elizabeth O'Nea,l of Jackson; nephews and niece,
Shannon O'Neal and Sean O'Neal, of Jackson, Beth and Ed Selby, of Naples, Fla.
He was predeceased by brothers, Lee Roy O'Neal and Edwin O'Neal.
Memorial services for Mr. James T. "Jim" O'Neal will be held Saturday, May
3, at 11 a.m., from the Stark United Methodist Church, with Rev.
Margaret Knight officiating. The interment will follow in the Stark United
Methodist Church Cemetery.
Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Friday, May 2,
from 2-4 p.m., and 6-8 p.m. The family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers,

Joseph Darrell Tanner
Mr. Joseph Darrell Tanner, 49, of McDonough, passed away April 28, 2008. He was born in Atlanta, to Dorothy Geraldine Smith and Joe W. Tanner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie Jean McTaggart Tanner, in 2004.
Darrell graduated from Henry County High School in 1976 and had worked for Delta Airlines for more than 20 years. He was a member of Lake Cindy Baptist Church; was an avid bowler, sports enthusiast, and enjoyed good music.
Survivors include his daughter, Kristi Tanner, of McDonough; mother, Geraldine Tanner, of Hampton; father, Joe W. Tanner, of Hampton; special friend, Karen Hooten ,of McDonough. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 2, at 2 p.m., from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Rev. J.E Jarrard will officiate. Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
