Stockbridge man sought in shooting of 2 brothers

By Daniel Silliman

As Kelvin White, Jr., sped away from the scene of a shooting, police say, he called his ex-girlfriend and told her not to tell the police who he was.

She did anyway.

Shiana Harris, 26, told Clayton County police detectives White, the father of her child, was the man who shot her brothers on Wednesday afternoon, and she identified him in a police picture.

By Friday morning, the man's photo was prominently displayed on Atlanta's Crime Stoppers web site, wanted posters were being sent to news outlets and the man's family was working with detectives and the United States Marshals Service to find the 24-year-old White and bring him into the Clayton County police station.

"We think he might still be in the area," said police spokesman Tim Owens on Friday afternoon, "and we expect to catch him pretty soon."

White is wanted on warrants for murder, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony. According to the warrants, filed with the Clayton County court by Detective Scott Eskew, White shot Tybias Favors, 21, and Terrell Favors, 22, with a .40 caliber handgun on April 30, at about 3:20 p.m.

Though publicly available details about the shooting remained vague late last week, police believe White went to 2679 Holly Berry Drive in Ellenwood, to see his ex-girlfriend, even though he had previously fought with her brothers and had been told to stay away from the house. While there, he allegedly got into an argument with the older brother, and then pulled a gun.

"He was the only one with a gun," Owens said. "Kelvin White, Jr., just opened fire."

When officers arrived, the two brothers were lying in the doorway of the Ellenwood home with bullet wounds in their chests and stomachs,

Tybias died during surgery at Atlanta Medical Center, while Eskew was in the judge's office taking out warrants against the suspected shooter. Terrell was still in critical condition on Friday, police said.

White left the scene in a beige, 1999 Chevy Trailblazer, with the license plant number AWV-6252, according to court records. White is a black male with tattoos on both arms, is about five-feet, six-inches tall, weighs between 180 and 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white hat with a blue "A" on the front, a light blue outfit and white, "Air Force One" shoes. He is believed to be carrying a .40-caliber handgun. He has lived in Stockbridge and Ellenwood.

Anyone with information about the fatal shooting, or White's location, is asked to call the Clayton County Police department's Detective Eskew at (770) 477-3786.
