Henry Smollen, 90, of Forest Park, passed away Wednesday, May 07, 2008.
Mr. Smollen was born April 5, 1918 to the late Victor and Mary Phillips Smollen in Westmoreland City, Pa. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1939 to 1945 and was awarded an American Theatre Ribbon; Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon, with two Bronze Stars; the Good Conduct Ribbon, and a Victory Medal, World War II.
Henry was preceded in death by his daughter, Janie Berryman, and is survived by his wife, Norris; 4 children, Kenneth Smollen, of Carrollton, Grady Smollen, of Stockbridge, Wanda Gatlin, of Marietta, Karen Smollen, of Powder Springs; grandchildren, Robin Smollen, Denise Smollen, Katherine Smollen, William Berryman, Jr.; several great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Helen Mondish and Vivian Wood.
Graveside services will be held Friday, May 9, at 11 a.m., at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Forest Park. Horis A. Ward Parkway Chapel, 1000 Forest Parkway, Forest Park, Ga., 30297 is in charge of arrangements, (404) 366-3522.
