One should be sure he has a positive outlook on life. He should love others and have a forgiving spirit.
A positive and optimistic attitude promotes good will toward others and builds good will for one's self. I believe having a good attitude toward life promotes happiness and creates good and lasting relationships with others.
This is certainly a lifestyle that is desirable for most people, and is a key to success in all we do. How does one create such happiness and satisfaction in life?
I learned early in life that, if I wanted to do a particular thing, I had to be good at it. I first learned to work; I wasn't a skilled worker, but I was dependable and I worked hard. I was able to get small jobs when I was only 10 or 12 years old, and I enjoyed the small amount of money I made.
As I grew older and stronger, I was able to get better summer jobs during the three months of vacation from school. About this time, I decided to play basketball in high school and I learned more than how to be a good player. I learned how to discipline my self and to be competitive.
In sports, to make the team, one must work very hard and learn to be better than others playing the game -- practice, practice and practice, and respond to competition.
In life, one must learn how to get along with others, and the best teacher I know is Jesus Christ, for He says we must do unto others as we want them to do unto us.
This way of life can cause one to find satisfaction and success in whatever we want to do. If you want to be loved, you must love others. If you want to have a friend, you must be a friend. If you want others to be kind to you, you must be kind to others.
One must treat others well to be treated well. However, one cannot have heaven as his home by works. Heaven is a gift from God Himself through His Son Jesus Christ.
St. Paul said in Romans 13:8-10, "Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. The commandments: do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not covet, and whatever other commandments there may be, are summed up in this one rule. "Love your neighbor as yourself."
Jesus Himself said in John 15:12.13, "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."
My friends, if we want a life of peace and joy, of satisfaction and faithfulness, then we must follow the advice of the Lord Jesus and love one another. The best way to accomplish these things in life is to put our faith and trust in our Holy God through Jesus Christ.
You may ask," Why must I become a Christian to have love in my life?"
Because God is love!
He knows more about life and love than any person, no matter how educated or experienced or smart he may be, and He has given us the perfect guide book to follow-the Holy Bible.
He has given us His Blessed Son to be an example for us to follow, to know how we should live -- love one another. St Paul says love is the most excellent way.
Please read 1st Corinthians 13, the love chapter of the Bible, to understand what love really is. Can you love like this? No. Not by your own power or understanding.
One must have the love of God in his heart and life, and even then, he must study and discipline his life according to Jesus' teachings and example.
If you are a Christian, praise God and love Him even more!
If not, why not place your faith and trust in Jesus today? I pray you will.
