Arts Clayton has opened enrollment to two summer art camps. The 15 annual Kaleidoscope Summer Arts Camp is for kids entering the 1st through 6th grades next fall. Campers participate in performing arts and visual arts from June 9 through June 20. The camp runs from 8:30 a.m., to 12:15 p.m., costs $155 and will be held at Lee Street Elementary School in Jonesboro. A Young Teen Camp, for students entering the 7th, 8th and 9th grades next fall, will also be held from June 9 through June 20. The students will choose from a selection of arts, including theater, cartooning, animation, photography and painting. Tuition is based on class choices. The Spivey Hall Young Artists and the Spivey Hall Children's Choir will be performing on Friday, May 16 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18 at 3 p.m., each day. The Spivey Hall Young Artists' spring concert showcases the achievements of the Young Artists, who will cap off their year with a program that includes performances with the Spivey Hall Children's Choir. A Clayton Center Day Camp for Elementary School Children, ages 5 to 11, will be held from June 2 to Aug. 1, from 8 a.m., to 6 p.m., every day. Clayton County Parks and Recreation Department is holding Mayfest at Clayton County International Park, on 2300 Highway 138 S.E., in Jonesboro, on May 16 from 10 a.m., to 2 p.m. Mayfest is an annual event for those 55 and older, celebrating Older American's Month of May, offering education information on a variety of issues. A Kiwanis Walk for Reading at Jester's Creek Trail, to benefit the Clayton County Library's Vacation Reading Program, will be held at 9 a.m., on May 17.
