George K. Bailey
George K. Bailey, age 72, a resident of Stockbridge since 1974, passed away May 17, 2008 after a lengthy illness. Born in Charleston, W.Va., George was the son of Shurley and Margaret Thaxton Bailey. George married Sylvia O. Guthrie Bailey on Feb. 23, 1960. Mr. Bailey is predeceased by his Mom and Dad, along with brothers; Eugene, Lloyd and Ben Bailey, sisters; Virginia Lott and Mary Ann Yoak.
George is survived by his wife of 48 years Sylvia, sisters Louise Wells and Naomi Hayes of Florida, Elizabeth Coiner, Helen (Carl Francisco) and Alma Bell of Charleston, W.Va., brother-in-law Norman (Rose) Foster of Virginia Beach, Va., and a total of 36 nieces and nephews.
George served proudly in the United States Marine Corp, receiving his discharge in 1962 at Quantico, Va.
A memorial service will be held at Hemphill Rd. Presbyterian Church in Stockbridge on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 11a.m. Family and friends will be received 30 minutes before the service. Cremation Society of the South at Eagle's Landing 770-692-1181.
Harvey Paul Haney
Harvey Paul Haney, age 90, of Stockbridge, Ga., died Saturday, May 17, 2008. He was born in Snellville, Ga. to the late Paul Thomas and Lena Jones Haney.
Mr. Haney is survived by wife of 73 years, Annie Lou Foster Haney, Stockbridge, Ga.; children, Annette Warren Haney, McDonough, Ga., Charles (Bobbie Jean) Haney, Social Circle, Ga., Lewis (Rita) Haney, Good Hope, Ga., Wayne (Nita) Haney, Locust Grove, Ga.; siblings, Ruth Bailey, Zebulon, Ga., Hershell Haney, Zebulon, Ga.; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Chaplain Don Daly, officiating. Interment will follow at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain on Monday May 19, at 10 a.m. The family received friends Sunday, May 18, 2008 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Mrs. Murscal Johnson

Mrs. Murscal Johnson, age 84 of Griffin, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Christian Ministries Hospice.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Roanoke, Ala. on Aug. 15, 1924 to the late Daniel Henderson and the late Pallie Stoke Henderson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sanford Enloe Johnson; five daughters, Annette Freeman, Jennifer Johnson, Frances Johnson, Darlene Reid and Debbie Johnson Smith.
Survivors include daughter, Vickie Smith of Griffin; son, Glenn Johnson of Hampton; nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Annie Ree Richardson of Roanoke; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Potash Ridge Cemetery in Roanoke, Ala. at 4 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Friends may visit the family on Monday, May 19, 2008 from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
