Mack Cockrell, 86, of McDonough, passed away on Memorial Day, May 26, 2008.
He was the third of 15 children of the late Laura Maude Oswalt Cockrell and
Roy Sylvester Cockrell, of Taylor's Branch, Texas, near Killeen.
He was preceded in death by Janie Marie Hillyard Cockrell, Wilford Walker Cockrell, James Weldon Cockrell, Evelyn Marie Cockrell Mitchell, Leroy Cockrell,
Gordon Allen Cockrell, and Elsie Arlene Cockrell Melville.
Mack was a 30-year veteran, enlisting in the Army Air Corps in January, 1942. He served in the Berlin Air Lift, Korean War, Viet Nam, and many other assignments throughout Europe and the Pacific. He retired from the United States Air Force in July, 1973.
He loved baseball, hunting, fishing, and golf. He is survived by his wife, Marion Agnes Dietke Cockrell, of McDonough; daughter, Linda Sue Cockrell Christenson, of McDonough; son Mickie Cockrell, of Middleton, Idaho; brothers, Norman, George, and Dick; and sisters, Delrie, Tiny, Margaret, Elizabeth, and Katy. He is also survived by two grandchildren.
A private family viewing will be held at Cannon- Cleveland Funeral Home, McDonough, Ga. at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 29. Paul "Benny" Fauscett
Paul "Benny" Fauscett, 59, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, May 27, 2008.
Mr. Fauscett served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era.
He is survived by his sister, Grace Minter, and family; brother, Johnny Fauscett, and family; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, May 30, in the Jonesboro Chapel of Pope Dickson and Son, with Rev. Ervin Perry officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. Oscar Junior "J.C." Card
Mr. Oscar Junior "J.C." Card, of McDonough, passed away May 27, 2008. He was born in Shuqualak, Miss., the son of the late Ada Mae Prisock and Andrew Jackson Card.
Mr. Card was a self employed carpenter for 30 years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, was a member of The Village Church, enjoyed hunting, fishing, wrestling and story telling. His wife, Margaret E. Lee Card, preceded him in death. Survivors are his children, Susan Card Voyles (Lee), of McDonough, Loretta C. Kongphila (Houmpheng), of Jonesboro, and Jill Hazard (Peter), of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Jennifer Voyles, Holly, Shoshana, Dakota Kongphila, Hunter, Caitlyn Card, Jackee, Jeremy Hazard, and Michael, Jr., Ashley, John Bearden; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Card will be Friday, May 30, at 1:30 p.m., in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Pastor Ray Waters officiating.
