Rev. J. David Menchhofer

Rev. J. David Menchhofer, 86, of Ellenwood, passed away, Oct. 30, 2008.

He was born in Northfield, Minn. He graduated from East Lansing High School in Lansing, Mich. He also graduated from Hope College in Holland, Mich., and United Theological Seminary in New Brighton, Minn.

He was awarded Chaplain of the Year honors in 2003 at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Rev. Menchhofer was a retired Church of Christ minister. He was a minister for 55 years.

He is survived by his wife, Edna; sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Earl Paul Menchhofer and Rev. Pamela Gale Smith, of Hoyleton, Ill., Joseph David Menchhofer, III, and Kimberly Ann, of Conyers, Ga., Dale Robert Menchhofer and Martha Hunting, of Seattle, Wash., and 5 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m., at Trinity Community Church in Hampton, Ga. Dr. Dwight Andrews, Rev. Earl Menchhofer, and Rev. Pamela Smith will officiate.

Rev. Menchhofer will lie in-state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Eastlawn Cemetery in McDonough. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 2-4 p.m., and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
