CSU holds dedication for amphitheater

Thursday

Clayton State University will hold a dedication ceremony for the Judge Eugene Lawson Amphitheater and the L. Jerry Eskew Stage on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 3 p.m., at the outdoor amphitheater and stage, which is located next to the university's Spivey Hall.

Wendy A. Burns-Ardolino, director of Clayton State University's Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program, will read excerpts from her book, "Jiggle: (Re)Shaping American Women," on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m., at Charis Books and More, 1189 Euclid Ave., Atlanta.

Friday

The Piedmont College Chamber Singers will perform "Canticle of the Sun and the Moon" on Friday, Nov. 7, at 8:15 p.m., at Clayton State University's Spivey Hall. Tickets cost $15.

Saturday

Clayton State University's Office of Undergraduate Recruitment and Admissions will hold an open house on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 9 a.m., till 3 p.m., at the university's residence hall, Laker Hall. Representatives from the admissions, financial aid, student organizations, housing and honors program departments will be on hand to answer any questions prospective students have about the university. Tuesday

Clayton State University will host a discussion on Barack Obama's election as the next U.S. president, and what it means for the future, on Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 11:10 a.m., to 12:30 p.m., in room 267 of the James M. Baker University Center, on Clayton State's Morrow campus. The discussion will be led by political science professors from the university. It is free and the public is invited to attend.

Nov. 20

The Brown Elementary School Council will meet on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 8 a.m., at 9971 Poston Road, Jonesboro. Parents who want to address the council during the meeting must sign in by 7:45 a.m.

The United States Air Force recently announced that Airman Johnny C. Hollis, son of College Park resident, Johnny Hollis, III, and Hampton, Va., resident, Teresa Hollis, has graduated from a six-week basic military training course at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. During his training, Hollis studied the Air Force mission; organization; rifle marksmanship; performed field training exercises, and received special training in human relations. Additionally, airmen earn credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force by completing their basic training.

Additionally, airmen earn credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force by completing their basic training.

Additionally, airmen earn credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force by completing their basic training. She is the daughter of Jonesboro resident Vida Jones, and Arlington, Va.-resident R. David Jones, Jr.
