A 55-year-old man, carrying a shopping bag, was hit and killed crossing Riverdale Road.
Ronald Perkins was apparently trying to get home to Highland Woods Apartments, in College Park, at about 8 p.m. Thursday.
He was not walking in the crosswalk when he was struck, police said.
He was apparently hit by two vehicles, one of which just kept going, according to Clayton County police.
The driver of a 2007 Ford Expedition, 22-year-old Gwen Blair Wess, pulled to the side of the road after the accident and called police. Wess has not been charged with anything, as of Friday night, police records show.
A second vehicle reportedly fled the scene. Police have not released any description of the vehicle.
When police arrived, Perkins was dead in the road's median. His hat had fallen to the ground to his left, and his shoe, shopping bag and soap were scattered to his right, according to the accident report.
Anyone with information about the hit -and-run accident is asked to call police at (770) 473-5400.
