Hijacking suspects arrested

After a minivan led Clayton County police on a high-speed chase into Atlanta, two men were arrested Sunday morning.

Angelo Bell, an 18-year-old from Forest Park, and Antonio P. Carter, a 17-year-old from Atlanta, were booked into the Clayton County Jail on charges of armed robbery, hijacking, and aggravated assault.

The two men allegedly stole the minivan, a gold, 2003 Toyota M8, out of a parking lot on Upper Riverdale Road.

Anthony Cavo, a 52-year-old, who works at the Cattle Exchange, said he was stopped at 200 Upper Riverdale Road S.E., at 12:30 a.m., Sunday to buy cigarettes and a soda, according to the police report filed by Officer L. Norwood.

Cavo said he was sitting in the van when a man wearing a hood opened the door, stuck a black gun in his face, and said, "Get out of the van."

Cavo said two men then told him to walk away from the vehicle, and when he got a little ways away, they jumped in and drove off, Norwood reported.

"Victim advised the suspects headed west on Upper Riverdale Road," Norwood reported.

Police chased the minivan, at high speeds, into Atlanta, according to the report, and arrested the two suspects.
