St. John's Episcopal Church's annual Blessing of the Animals and Fall Festival will be held Oct. 4, from 10 a.m., to 2 p.m. Animals of all shapes and sizes are invited to come be blessed, petted, and loved. Their owners also can enjoy the free, fun-filled, family-friendly Fall Festival. St. John's Blessing of the Animals commemorates Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron of animals and the environment. The blessing service begins at 1 p.m. There will also be raffles and prizes, a bounce house, scavenger hunt, teddy bear repair station, face painting, barbecue and bake sale, bookstore, flea market, a paw reader, and pony rides. There will be a benefit motorcycle ride for His Restoring Hand, Inc., which is building a shelter for abused women and children in Henry County. The ride is sponsored by Daughter Sister Friend, LLC. The Clayton County Business Community "Business2Business Bowling Tournament 2008 will be held on Friday, Oct. 17. The Second Annual Event, hosted by State Rep. Mike Glanton and Clayton County Tax Commissioner Terry Baskin, will be held at Pin Strikes Bowling Center, at 3478 Mt. Zion Road, Stockbridge. The Tara Beekeepers Association will present a "Beekeeping Short Course" at the Reynolds Nature Preserve on Saturday Oct. 18, from 8 a.m., to 4:15 p.m. The course is for beginning beekeepers, but experienced beekeepers seeking current information also are welcome. The course will enable most people to easily maintain a hive. The Clayton County Farm Bureau will be promoting the importance of agriculture and member benefits, including insurance, at the Firefighter Combat Challenge, 1986 Mt. Zion Road, on Oct. 18.
